  • Safety Bulletin 4/19: Change to chest loops on new harnesses

    Existing yellow EWP/Live work harness have smaller chest loops than the old style harnesses making it harder to connect to the Controlled Decent Device (CDD). When attaching the EWP CDD snap hook onto the EWP/Live work harness chest loops, you will need to put one of the formed webbing rescue loops on at a time and pull the loop all the way through the snap hook before attaching the second loop.

We are looking to determine the type of customers who currently use the service and their reasons for using this option to purchase materials. We are also trying to determine whether other options for purchasing approved materials are known and used within the ASP market. To achieve this, a survey has been created and distributed to ASPs and current Ausgrid ASP material sales customers.

  • Safety Alert 13/18: Reverse polarity on underground service mains
    Dec 06, 2018

    A crew responding to a ‘no supply’ call in an underground area made an incorrect connection, resulting in the service neutral being connected to an active link in the column. A crew member noticed smoke and an arcing noise, and immediately called for his colleague to disconnect the service at the column. The customer’s installation suffered heat damage to earth conductors and bonds in the switchboard, cable duct, and roof space.

  • Safety Alert 17/18: Unintended discharge of electricity during live low voltage works
    Dec 03, 2018

    Whilst bonding in an LV UGOH, an ASP1 Lineworker was connecting a 95mm2 ABC tail from the LV link box to the 95mm2 ABC overhead in-service network, a flash over between B & C phase occurred. Whilst re-tensioning live low voltage (LV) overhead (OH) mains, an ASP1 Lineworker cut the B-phase in-service conductor, causing it to contact a telecommunications steel catenary wire resulting in an arc-flash.
